I started taking Qigong classes with Helena and David in 2022, after recovering from Covid-19. At the same time as Covid, I had two strokes and severe pneumonia. Helena did Qi treatments for me remotely until I was discharged from the hospital. After that, I joined them online for the Zhi Neng Qigong course and for the first few months I just sat in the energy field they created. After a relatively short time, I started to feel much better. At first, I felt a slight improvement in my legs and feet, and after a while, I was able to walk up the stairs. Gradually, I started exercising for a few minutes, then a little more, and today I can sometimes do the entire workout without having to sit down. The exercises for the torso, neck, and arms are also very good. My headaches are becoming less frequent. All of this is done slowly with relaxation exercises. While we are relaxed, David guides us with movement and words and directs our concentration to the painful parts of our bodies.
As soon as I felt better, I started to look more positively at myself and around me. Today, in 2024, I feel much better and all the findings, considering my advanced age, are relatively good.
It does not mean that Taijiquan and Qigong are only for people who have had experiences like mine or similar experiences. They are good for all groups of people and for every age. There are no restrictions. This work strengthens us and boosts our immunity. We do all this to be good for us now and in the future. I highly recommend Helena and David.

I enrolled in the instructor course in 2019 after several training sessions in Poreč with David. Before that, I had no experience practicing taijiquan or qigong. My desire was to gain a certain level of knowledge and skills that would allow me to independently know and be able to conduct my own training regardless of where I am. Watching David’s demonstration of the long form, I was fascinated by the feeling and experience (representation) of life, (essence, flow, change). It was probably a key moment.
Practicing taijiquan certainly improves the quality of my life on all levels (psychophysical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual). After practicing in a group and especially on the instructor course, I feel very full of good, positive energy, very empowered, focused, joyful with inner peace.
I gained invaluable experience working on myself through all dimensions of body/emotions/spirit. It is especially important to me that I gained a feeling of greater inner peace and patience, a better sense of myself, a greater degree of independence and self-sufficiency; a greater ability to observe and self-observe (my own functioning and potential for change). Also, my ability to self-regulate emotions, a sense of my own power, joy of life, a sense of balance and harmony with the natural flows of life increased. Both the “theoretical” and “philosophical” parts were important to me, that is, the opportunity to experience it through the body (in accordance with my capabilities).
Since I practiced most of it with David, I would like to look back on his work. In my experience, David is an excellent teacher. Patient, neutral (in the best sense), persistent, high-quality.
In conclusion, I would say that I gained a feeling of multiplying the dimensions of my own existence; I experienced wonderful moments of practicing and learning with dear people. I am happy and very grateful to you.
I would like to continue to improve my skills through workshops and/or residencies.

My feeling is that it opens the door to solving what is bothering you, whether it is an unfulfilled, undefined desire, or healing wounds or critical areas of the psyche and body. In the second trimester of practicing, for example, I solved chronic (many years) gynecological problems and got a good result from the PAP test, positive developments began to occur at work that I did not expect, I feel that I can help with my other health problems, I feel stronger and calmer… It is like some kind of energy ‘smoothie’ for the mind and body… If someone does not know anything about it, the easiest way for me to describe the training is like this: ‘it is like standing yoga with an energy smoothie’…

Although in his approach he speaks and explains less, David, with his example and quality corrections, strongly encourages a better understanding and execution of movements. I especially appreciated David’s online training during Covid, the precision and dedication with which he followed and guided us on an almost individual level. David’s Taijiquan and Qigong trainings are equally good, and from my level of understanding of these skills, I consider them top-notch. David also demonstrates the applications of individual movements very well, raising awareness that Taiji is a martial art that works on multiple levels, not just the physical.
During the training, Helena often brought in stories about her experiences that are important and instructive, they always make me think, probably not only on a mental level. Also, Helena understands with more empathy the dilemmas and problems that the Western mind encounters during exercise that comes from a different, Chinese culture. With Helena’s help and explanations, I understood very well these basic movements that she explains in detail. A good example of this is the “figure eight” that we practiced in detail and slowly during the training, especially the pelvic work. Then, Helena introduces some other Qigong exercises into her training that contribute to the variety and dynamics of the training. Unlike David, the trainings as structured by Helena are in a way a combination of Taijiquan and Qigong.
For the past year, Helena has been dedicating herself more to Qigong trainings (online), with “combined training” in the gym. My experience with online Qigong trainings has been very positive and useful. The atmosphere is regularly relaxed, but working. My impression is that with each new training we delve deeper into the knowledge and possibilities that Qigong provides.
Instructor courses
Today I am glad that I went through the three-year Taijiquan instructor course and I consider it one of the greatest achievements in my more mature age. To go through all three years that require more and more intensity of training, you need a strong will and a good understanding of the inner motive that drives you. The goal we want to achieve after completing the course does not have to be clear, both at the beginning and during the entire period. It is already shaped depending on the circumstances we find ourselves in.
David is the central figure of the instructor course and leads it with an understanding of each participant, their progress and capabilities (physical and other limitations). On the other hand, Helena provides support and complements David’s work whenever necessary. For me personally, the courses were interesting at first, then they became strenuous, and during the last year of the course, I experienced those weekends as a great pleasure due to the progress achieved, paying less and less attention to the physical and mental efforts.
Recently, a close, long-time friend of mine said that she felt that my interest and dedication to Taijiquan and Qigong was the most spontaneous, yet successful thing I had ever done. I agree.

My field is martial arts and I would like to mention that I spent a lot of time looking for a teacher with whom I could satisfy my need for knowledge and practice. A teacher who would not constantly treat students as a means of making money and as people who are not worth teaching. On that side, hats off to David, he is a very honest teacher, he does not promise what he does not intend to teach, but teaches what he promises. He offers everyone as much as he can receive. Both beginners and those who already know a little gain a lot in the same group exercise. He explains complicated things simply and always gives the feeling that this is the beginning of a journey, that if you want, you can also take a very deep look into the knowledge he offers. He knows how to stop you a little at the right moment and also push you forward a little when you get stuck in one place. He is an extremely precise and positively demanding professor. I hope that he will continue to teach for a long time and that I will be able to pass on some of the knowledge he received from his teachers to the next generations and thus continue his and my path.
I am not that fond of Qigong, I don’t really like Qigong, but Helena is a good teacher and knows very well how to create a positive atmosphere during practice and activate the energy channels in the body. Even when we stand in the tree position for a long time and everything hurts, she creates a field perfectly and draws us into it, bringing us to the desired state with her words, persevering with us to the end in what we are doing. Her great feeling for the individual allows her to put the right things in the right place. I know that Qigong is very useful for me, but after talking to Helena I become aware that by practicing I am not only helping myself but also others
I really like practicing with both of them. What I appreciate about you is that you stick to what you said in terms of training and organization, and if that is not possible, explain the new decision. What I received from you goes beyond the boundaries of “exercises”, “preparations”, “programs” and penetrates deep into the spiritual, feminine, symbolic self. Now I have a little pocket Helena to hold me when I am at my hardest, when every day seems the same, when I am spinning between putting my baby to sleep, carrying her, breastfeeding, cleaning, ironing, cooking – maintaining the wheels that only allow the day to flow into night and night into day again, for things to proceed normally in our new little family, I have that Helena and I take her out of my pocket where there are vomited tissues, rattles and socks, and she breaks me away from everyday life and says: WE CHOOSE OUR OWN TRUTH, WE CHOOSE OUR OWN BEAUTY!

A very precise review of an active Qigong practitioner – B.K.
I have been practicing in the club for three and a half years and I only practice Qigong. The Qigong trainings in the first years were led by David, and this year the trainings were led by Helena.
During this time, I have become acquainted with several directions of Qigong and it seems to me that I have adopted the most a series of Shi Ba Fa exercises and of course Zhineng Qigong – various preparatory exercises and the first form of Zhineng Qigong.
Since I have worked with both teachers, I can also write something about their specific approaches. I started to get to know Qigong with David as a teacher and I can write about that experience that it was intense and structured, even strict. I understood very well that this practice requires a lot of dedication and that it is very complex, that “behind” relatively simple slow movements there is an extremely big story, a large field of knowledge and dedication that can only be approached with a lot of patience and precisely with this awareness – that Qigong, and especially Zhineng Qigong, is not something that can be learned “overnight” or just that simply. It is a system, a practice that can be done, by practicing, with that attitude of respect for the practice itself, for the teacher and for all those who have developed it for centuries. This is what I managed to grasp and understand by practicing with David. Secondly, what I got were the very basics, the movements, the details of the movements, their order, the states of consciousness and thoughts that accompany them, an organized system that is then performed. A fairly secure base for me with which I can confidently practice at home.
Working with Helena afterwards, I managed to gain new dimensions in practicing. Since I was already familiar with some of the basics, I was able to focus on certain finesses that I had missed. With Helena, I began to get to know positions, places where the form can be expanded, movements can be repeated multiple times, and developed. Helena has a strong intuition and healing impulse, so some exercises with her also gain that meaning, so they became much closer to me and I started to like doing them (e.g. the exercise with the shoulder blades)! With Helena, practicing gained a dimension in which the psyche began to be included.
But this is a very personal experience that has its roots in the already mentioned order in which I met teachers, so it is difficult to distinguish between what is the individual style of the teacher and what is something that comes with years of practice. But, that is my experience and I think I should mention it.
What I really liked about Qigong from the beginning, and that is exactly why my wife recommended it to me, is the grounding and centering. Practicing with lowering and grounding and centering (many exercises mentally move towards the center, from above, from below from infinity to dantien) had an immediate effect. My thoughts and spirit did not “wander” through infinity, but slowly became focused on what was essential. And after that, regular practice also had an effect. Today I cannot imagine Qigong not existing in my life. The group trainings alone are sometimes so intense that they keep me awake for a very long time. Sometimes, if I exercise regularly and a lot, I can also get energy while walking around the city. But these are anecdotal examples. What has become clear to me after only a few years (in which I often don’t have time to exercise as much as I need to) is that I have changed a lot for the better and I am generally quite satisfied with my psychophysical state. Not completely, but Qigong is there for me as a “safety net”, as a guarantee that I can and will be able to cope with anything that comes my way.
The changes for the better are very visible, and with some other techniques (family tree healing with Helena), today I have incomparably fewer problems with some of my bad habits, for example with excessive and sudden or long-term irritation. Physically I am much better to the extent that it is sometimes strange when I remember all the movements I used to perform with weight in the beginning, and today they are simple and accessible to me. I finally feel that I am vital, that I know my body better and that I have confidence in it. All this did not happen all at once. I was immediately enthusiastic about Qigong from the beginning, but I was also afraid that the initial speed of change would take me in the wrong direction. But that didn’t happen, and I’m sure it was because of the teacher.
Probably because of what I wrote earlier, the awareness that it was something much bigger and more complex and not at all easy and that it required dedication. The changes that I can detect now came slowly, but now they are precisely because of that and firmly established. The changes began to be consolidated with regularity and patience, practice and exercise, the only way. Only through learning and practice – exercise – do new dimensions and new experiences always open up, and that is excellent and encouraging. That was true from the beginning, is still true now, and will continue to be true in the future.
I have no complaints about the technical aspects of the training, I really don’t have any ideas about what needs to be improved. Nothing bothers me at all, sometimes the music suits me, and sometimes it doesn’t. It suits me when the group is small or when it’s larger, when it’s mixed and when we’re working from scratch, and it suits me equally well when we’re repeating and improving something we already know or when we’re getting to know something new. My only problem is mine, and that’s the problem that I wish I had more time in my life to practice more.
